This meta-photography project explores the act of photographing photographs — a process different from capturing a subject directly, and also entirely distinct from merely digitizing existing photos.

The process begins with a review of the personal archive, from which the artist selects images that feel the most resonant to the idea — aesthetically and emotionally. The chosen pieces are then photographed and reinterpreted digitally, as the artist seeks to move beyond the content of the original photo, and investigate the whole phenomenon instead. Each shot stands on its own while remaining connected to those before and after it, on the roll, while also the container material is connected to what it depicts.

So the project becomes a self-reflective examination of photography through photography itself: a photographer looking at, questioning, and investigating his own work beyond the mechanics of the medium.

Both analog and digital photographs are taken by Manon Azar, the sole author of the work.
